Is it easier or cheaper to convert a 2wd into a 4wd via a SAS and transfer case add than it is to a do IFS 4x4 with a SAS ??? Lot easier to find 2wd rangers for sale on the cheap than a 4X4. Just checking.

As far as installing the axle goes I don't know that it is any easier to do on a 2wd vs a 4x4.

You can't just bolt a transfer case on the back of a 2wd trans to make it a 4x4 though. The output shaft has to be changed, so you need a trans if you go the 2wd route.

im not sure if this applies to rangers. but toyota guys looking to do sas buy 2wd trucks. because the frame is i believe wider.

it would be more costly to do an sas on a 2wd. and front end tear down might be easier. but youd have more to install.

id go with a 4x4 model.

The Ranger 2wd frames are narrower I think. But if he can get the 2wd truck a lot cheaper than he may still come out ahead at the end.
