So found a 94 4x4 lifted 6 inches on 33 BFG A/T's for 1k. got him down to 900 and i'm going to pick it up tomorrow.
it's a 4.0

he says it slips going into 2nd gear, but aren't the auto's known for going out ? i figure i can find one in a junk yard for cheap if it's too bad to drive for a while or do a manual conversion.

/e: Does anyone else find the early 4x4 grill of this style ugly? i do. Think a Billet grill would look better?

Wish I could find some decent 3rd gens around where I live. They all seem to be in the states.

Is it a hard swap from auto to manual?

to tell you the truth i'm not sure, shouldn't be TOO hard. most 3rd gens around here like this go for like 3-4k+. this one has decently high miles tho. for 900 can't beat it tho.

I know of a member that's looking for a 4x4 grill, you should check into selling it on here if your looking to upgrade anyway.

And no, it's not a hard swap from what I've read. Check the tech library and search the forums a bit. IIRC it's prettymuch bolt on, there's even already a hole in your floor with a plate bolted on covering it up.

cool, cool. and idk might take me a while to get the cash for another grill ( no job) but if someone needs it on here they're def the first to get it.

I would cheerfully give $900 for it. My 86 is full of 93 ranger parts. If you have to buy buy a tranny buy a manual. My A4LD left me all over near and far my manual always gets me home.Well worth it just in peace of mind.

Most likely if you get an auto transmission at a junkyard it will probably have problems. Think about why that truck is in the junkyard, usually it's because it's wrecked or has mechanical issues.

i usually mean like car-part.com, and i'd only get one that has some type of a warrenty. i want a manual anyways, perfect excuse to get one soon!

/E: Do they even make a billet replacement grill for the 4x4's for 93-94? i can't find any

Yeah a manual swap would be better. I don't think the make billet grilles for gen 3's do they?

They all say non 4x4, but it has a few engine issues that have to be addressed first. Has a miss, 120 mile drive and still wasn't warmed up

Stupid phone! made me sound like i didn't know how to type.

Shouldn't matter, if anything it might require a 2wd grill to mutilate. Find someone to trade and your golden.
