Any one ever burned both beams together with some plate? or had the thought? I was thinkin about doing a cut n turn on the knuckles to get the diff a little higher and higher center clearance.probly not practical but I thought it might be interesting.:dunno:

Its been done. I just saw a thread on it a little while ago. Search for SAS D35 or something like that.

It's been done. I can see it being more of a hassle than anything. Plus, what exactly are you gaining by Welding it together? You'll have HORRIBLE ground clearance plus the same size ring/pinion and shitty flange hubs.

Wouldn't it be easier to just sell the ttb off to someone that wants it and locate a straight axle? We could all live in trees too but it doesn't make much sense to do so.

I remember that thread. It was really a pretty cool thing (I thought). But it seems like too many people gave the guy heat for trying it, and he disappeared.

EDIT - Here's one made out of a D44:

I'm pretty sure that's what Gwaii did to the D50 under his Ranger. ^^ That one looks clean.

IIRC the main concern was strength of the beam. I thought it was a cool idea too, but overall you don't see any significant gains aside from it looking cool.

I didnt think it was practical it came up yesterday at the bar. My budy was sayin I need to ditch the ttb (im having alot of steering issues that I cant get figured out),and go solid and I told him I wanted to stick with it. And some older gentleman sudgested to weld it together. But I like the independant front end. I do alot of mixed wheeling higher speeds threw desert and a little bit of crawling. The ttb works verry well imo but I have to get my bugs worked out.

Well what kind of steering issues are you having?

Also, tell the old man that solid axles were great, in the 60's, but he needs to stop spooning Rip Vanwinkle and get with the times.

Hey!, why the hate on solid axles? :annoyed:

Well im prety sure its my steering box, but shes all over the road with no return to center. and at about 35 os so any bump or divit in the road causes the body to roll back and forth for a few seconds then goes back to normal. My truck had a hard life prior to my ownership. iots of air time I guess. but I found this vid of my truck (old owner) they broke somthing and Ithink my problen is steming from this.<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/X_FI0lTgxx4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jack the front up and check for bends and play. Also, don't try to use the youtube embed code because it doesn't work. Take everything after the = in the URL of the page and put it in the youtube tags over here.
