ok, so last night me and a buddy when to check out a place that we heard about. there was a lot of trails out there, and it was pretty easy, and we weren't trying to get into anything since it was 10pm when we got there. Anyways, we drove around for a bit, and then on the way back I tried to go through what I thought was solid ground, but my truck sank, bad. we tried to get it out, digging, jacking, pulling, but we couldn't get it to budge. we left aroung 1 that night to come back in the morning to see if we could unstuck it in the day light. Well my buddy was running late, so we didn't get out there untill around 12, only to find that my truck was not there. You could see the hole i was stuck in and how they pulled me out. But nothing else, no ruts or anything were they snatched me or anything. So i call my dad, and he calls around to the local sheriff office, since we think it must have been towed out. Well the sheriff office has no record of my license plate number being towed. And still no word for the police. They did tell my dad to file to have the truck reported stolen. So my dad is coming up here tomorrow to file it, since they won't let me as i don't own the truck. I'm really hoping that it's just been towed, and not stolen. We were at some power lines, and we called the Electric company, and they said they never tow vehicles on their land. So i don't know whats up with it. I had probably a couple hundred in tools in the toolbox, plus i just put in new ball joints not 3 weeks ago. life seems to be really crapping on me lately.

Has anyone here had their vehcile towed, and if so how long before you were contacted or before they notified the police?

Is there anything else that i should do? What if it was stolen?

So you went wheeling on private land without knowing who the land owner was, and without getting permission, then you got stuck and left your truck. Upon coming back the next day you find your truck (which was left abandoned on private land owned by someone you didn't have permission to use) gone?

Sorry bud. Not going to get any pity from me though. Illegal wheeling is just that.

If it was on my property, I would have called the the local authorities and filed a trespassing report....

You'll find that this place, and myself in particularly, are EXTREMELY against illegal offroading. not only does it cause localized problem, it only adds greater fuel to the activists' fires trying to close what little legal land is still available.

How did they pull you out if there were no ruts there?

That sucks. Maybe find the owner of the land and see what he did with your truck. Chances are he watched you go back there and got a big grin on his face when he saw only one truck leave.

i'd bet the owner of the land had it winched onto a flatbed....

nah, i don't think it was private land. There was nothing blocking any of the roads, and no signs or anything not that that means its not private. and no body knows who the owner is. I'm pretty sure the power company owns it, but they told my dad they could not confirm it. Its just woods that the power lines go through for a couple of miles. people go back there all the time, the guy i went with goes about once a week back there. and has never had any problems. he even camped there for a couple of nights a couple of months ago and there was about 5 people leaving when we went in. You can tell that people do there often. If I was in the wrong i will accept that. I just wish someone would call me. I left my name and number on a yellow notepad on my toolbox by my driverside door. I'm not here looking for pity, nor did I ask for any, I'm grown enough to accept my mistakes contrary to what some may think. i just wanted to know the odds of it being towed to the odds of it being stolen. so yea.

pillen, i don't smoke. grew outta it and can't anymore for the career i hope to be going into. if it was a UFO you would think that they would be smart enough to call me. lol

maybe they were confused and wanted to probe your window sticker.

I doubt it was stolen.

How would that person know you were not on your way back to get it?

if that person were one to be stealing vehicles, i doubt they would care who was coming back. on top of that, what are the odds that somebody was coming back when they were stealing it, could have been 3 or 4 am?? as sad as it is, i think theres a good chance its been stolen and either beat to death or parted....

I know there was a kid in high school that buried his Wagoneer on a mud road. He came back the next day and it was gone, he scoured the coutryside looking for that thing. A week later it was sitting in the field entrance by where the mud road started just like it had been pulled out with the keys in it, I am thinking the nearest farmer was just making a statement about tearing up the road.:buttkick:

But I doubt your story will have the rosey outcome of ever seeing it intact again.:no2:
