And the NUMBERS did

Percentage of People in the hospital with COVID are like 90% un-vaccinated, 8% single dose, 1 or 2% double dose

So vaccine effectiveness numbers were wrong, estimates were 72% to 90% effective, looking much BETTER than that
But to be fair vaccinated people that do get COVID are usually not Hospitalized so 90% effectiveness number could be about right
