Hey all, wondering if anyone had a similar problem or know the answer. Was driving my truck around last night (03 Ranger 4.0 SOHC) and I came to an intersection. So I stopped, and I got half-way through the intersection when my truck died. Pushed it off to the side, got it to start after a couple minutes, and continued down the road hoping it wouldn't happen again. Well, wouldn't you know it died and I was just coasting down the road, but I was able to pull it into a vacant lot. I waited a couple minutes and tried to start it, which it did no problem, and it ran normal for about 1-2 minutes before I could hear the engine slowly wind down and the whole truck shook before it died. This happened a couple times with me trying to figure it out. Luckily I got a tow to the garage my grandfather owns, but I was wondering if something similar happened to anyone. Any help would be awesome.

Check your fuel system.

Make sure the pressure is proper, and enough volume is making it to the engine. When's the last time your fuel filter was changed?

Next system to check is emissions systems( MAF, IAC, etc)

sounds like you need to go to the gas station and put fuel in your truck honestly... im sure you got that covered already though? i didnt even want to mention it, but assumptions are the mother or all ****ups

Nah, it has fuel. Checked everything last night and turns out it was the fuel pump, so that's on order but won't be here till monday.

It turns that it wasn't the fuel pump, but after putting the Diagnostic computer on the truck, it read error code "P0232" and "P0118" which are "Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit High" and "Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input" Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Something is telling the computer that there is a problem with the fuel pressure and the temperature is off to. I would check the wiring around the fuel regulator and make sure the connections are good and that there isn't any scraped wires. Do you have the smell of gas like the motor is flooded? Or does it seem to run rich? Could you run the motor till it stops then pull a plug and tell us what you see?

Oh shit! Did you change the fuel filter? That could be the problem I think.

Bump, did you ever find a solution to this? I'm seeing the same issue on my 96', with a 2.3.

My Fuel Pressure is hovering around ~31psi at idle, and I have a full tank of fuel.
