So i was heading home from home depot after i got a new angle grinder after mine broke while working on my winch mount. So i gave it a little too much gas and lost control and slid in a circle and hit a ditch and the tire caught and she tipped. I'm alright, it was all at a slow speed but i lost my drivers side mirror and put some new dents in the cab/door/ and bed, oh well. And get this, the state boys didn't give me a ticket, just a warning, suprisingly. I know how to drive in the snow, and i know better but live and learn i guess before anybody preaches. Crappy cell phone pic but you get the picture, i'll post more carnage tommorow in the light. That was an F-550 pullin my truck back upright.

climbing out was fun... doors are heavy when they are being opened straight up, lol

Yep!, shes still alive, i'm going to fire her up tommorow though, let the fluids settle overnight, and double check them because she lost a little tranny fluid. a 2 mile tow was 160 bucks! insurance covers 75, that and the mirror should be my only costs, *knock on wood* Now i have to get a "chicks dig body damage" sticker! =P Its kind of odd, just about all the damage from the previous owner and me are on the drivers side, there isnt much on the passenger side

Well, good to hear that it wasn't bad, and that you and the truck are alright! That's most important, safety of the occupants.

Yea, at first i was all worried about my truck, and then I'm like, hey, i'm o.k. I can fix the truck, but i can't be replaced

That mirror isn't cheaap man, hopefully you can find one at a pull 'em yard. I have been scrounging for one for my truck and ended up just sticking on of those round blind spot mirrors on it. Someone cracked the case and the power motor can't keep it in place because it flops around all the time.

Glad you and it are all good. Check them fluids and your roll-over fuel inertia switch thing and post up a status report as soon as you can.

Thanks! I checked the local yards prices, they're around 50-60 bucks, not too bad, what do they go for around your place? Where would this rollover inertia switch be say if i'm not getting fuel and she doesnt start? And will do on the status report.

I beleive it will be in your passenger side kick panel. I am going to say that it will have been tripped by being on it's side. Pop the panel and hit the reset. All it takes.

I checked the salvage yards and the Ranger's in my area either fell on their driver's side or already had the mirrots gone. Unfortuanetely there are only 2 yards (One I actually like going to though). I almost got one off of an Explorer but the owner came by and told me someone wanted the whole truck. This was at the yard I like going to. Good thing I'm not one of those asshats at salvage yards and actually took the door panel off properly so I just snapped it all together and called it good:D

The dealer wants over 150 bucks for a Ford one but through Probody replacement parts in Alberta you can get a new OEM style one for I think 80 CAD.

Ford Mirror part #'s/Probody #'s

Power LH -- F87Z-17683-SAB / FOR-3151
Manual LH -- F87Z-17683-SAB / FOR-12982
Manual LH with Off Road Package -- 4L5Z-17683-BAA / FOR-3153

Check in with your dealer. They may have access to a third party auto parts distributor like Probody.

Beat me to it! i was searching, seems like its been like that for a long time on most RBVs, the switch being under the passenger side kick panel that is... So to replace the mirror you have to take the door panel off? Sounds Seems pretty straight foward..

I added more stuff to previous post for you. You have to take the door panel off and if it is powered you need to unbolt the speaker too because the connector is right behind it.

If you want I can scan the procedure from the service manual for you tomorrow but it is a fairly simple process as long as you undo the panel properly. And you can do it with all the connectors still attached to the panel you just don't have too much room to work with. And taking out the speaker makes wrestling with the clips on the power mirror attachment gobs easier.

Speaking of Pro Body Parts. The pull 'em place I frequent actualy gets stuff from them too. I never thought that a salvage yard could order me new body parts.

If you could do that i'd really appreciate it! just to simplify things. i'll be getting one pretty quick, A snowstorm is rolling through and my mom is probably going to make me stay home, yea, im still a kid (18), so shes still the boss under her roof. cant afford to live on my own as a college kid these days thats for sure!

Living at home is a good thing, parents need someone to do all that shoveling thing.
