Snoranger’s 2023 Ranger Lariat Tremor

hell yeah....

The one option I’ve used on all my trucks has always been remote start. The 500a package doesn’t come with it, but there’s no reason to worry. It’s one of the easiest things I have ever installed.

Here’s what’s in the box:

Module
Wiring
Zip ties
Other useless junk

Step 1:
Unplug the gateway module (OBDII connector) and plug the new harness in between the module and the truck wiring.

Step 2:
Plug the remote start jumper and the pigtail off the newly installed harness into the module.

Step 3:
Program the module.
This involves turning the key on and off, opening and closing the door, and starting then shutting the engine off. The instructions tell you exactly what to do… it’s not difficult.
Step 4:
Test the remote start. On the key fob, press the lock button, unlock button, then the lock button again… your truck should now start.
Step 5:
Mount the module up under the dash with some of the zip ties.

Step 6:
Install instruction key tag.

It took longer to go to the garage and get a pair of cutters to cut the zip ties, then it did to install and program it.

I went to install my Prinsu roof rack today. I tried to beat the storm the supposed to hit this afternoon, but that wasn’t going to happen. So I got as much done as I could before the rain hit. I figured it would be wise to NOT drill holes in my roof when there’s a thunderstorm in the distance.
So I built the rack, but didn’t install it yet.

Here’s all the parts set out and inspected for damage. The 2 brackets on the front left aren’t part of the normal rack, they’re an additional bracket I bought to mount my Smittybilt awning.
I’m still waiting for the 2 lighted handles to come in… I should see them around the middle of the week.

I figured since I already wasn’t following the directions I would start with the front air damn. For some reason that crossbeam is silver, not black… whatever.

Next step is to attach all the crossmembers to the side plates.

This is the point where I stopped because of the weather. I’ll have to finish up later.

I'm surprised your Ranger didn't come with the option to use the Ford Pass app. That's how I remotely start mine.

It does, I’ve used it… I’m not a fan.

I ordered a pair of ditch light brackets.
I used to be an importer for Aurora lighting, I’ve got a few pod lights left in my stash. (That’s where the rock lights came from.) I’m pretty sure that account is still open… I’ll have to check into that for the rest of the lights I need.

I did the same with mine until they updated the app. Now my phone is too old and the app won’t work. I’m not buying another phone just because an app won’t work.

I got a call today from a shipping company to set up the delivery of my bumpers… they’ll be here tomorrow afternoon.

I came up with a plan for the wiring to the roof rack (light bar, side facing scene lights, illuminated handles, etc). Since I put the cap on, the 3rd brake light is useless. Im going to replace it with a Superduty 3rd brake light block off plate. They’re cheap and I won’t have an issue drilling through it to run the wires into the cab.

I took the day off to accept delivery of my bumpers.

I borrowed my neighbors Bobcat. It made moving the pallet so much easier.

-But- I’m getting ahead of myself.

Since I had the day off, and it was 95 degrees, I stupidly decided today was a good day to install my roof rack.

The lighted handles for the drivers side should be here tomorrow.

I like the rack, but I will never install one of these again. It was a pain in the ass. I had to drop the headliner to remove the drip rail trim. Then drill 10 holes in the roof to install nutserts.
The directions (online only, no paper copy in the box) kinda suck, I probably should do a write up but I didn’t take any pics.

On to bigger and better things… the bumpers.

The first sign of quality is the packaging, and these are packed and wrapped to survive anything the delivery guy can throw at it. I only opened the rear bumper so far (I used the box for the front one as a workbench), but it’s fully wrapped in foam rubber and surrounded by styrofoam.

I don’t have any pics of the install, but you basically remove the old bumper, completely disassemble it, cut a few brackets off the trailer hitch (which is part of the OEM bumper), then install all that stuff on the new bumper before you install and adjust it.

I’ve owned TjM products before, and this is the same quality and fit I expected from them. Other than the issue I had ordering, I’d recommend them to anyone.

*Ordering issue*
I tried contacting 5 different TJM vendors and not a single one responded. I emailed the US headquarters to order direct from the source. Three attempts and 2 weeks later… still no response. I emailed the main headquarters in Australia. I got a response the next morning from them… then another from the US headquarters 15 minutes later.
They’re here now, so I’ll be sending another message to Australia to discuss their absolutely horrendous customer service here in the States, and explain to them why they’re having such a hard time breaking into this market.

Oh yeah.

Midland radios had a 20% off flash sale yesterday. I ordered the MTX500 bundle.

Where do you plan to mount it? I was thinking about the MXT575 because everything is in the mic for the 2019 when I get that far.

I didn’t plan anything yet.

I installed the 40” single row amber light bar, a pair of scene lights, and the drivers side handles.

Here’s a pic of the lights on as the sun was setting.

I still have to run the wiring, I just rigged it up for testing and adjusting. The light bar and scene lights are good… the rear handle light started smoking when I hooked up power. That needs to get exchanged.

I started the install on the front bumper after work. I got the old one off and started assembling the new one.

In case anyone is thinking about building their own bumper (@Jim Oaks I’m talking to you) I took some pics of the truck without a bumper.
