Hey guys, Ive got an 87' ranger with a 2.9L and an 87' mustang LX with 2.3L in it. I have been thinking of putting in a 2.3 or a 2.5 in my ranger. I found a 2.3L dual plug from a 96 ranger, it has a 5spd. My truck has an automatic. Will the 2.3 dual spark mate up to my current V6 tranny? Or would I be better off putting the newer 2.3 into my LX? You see my problem? Two engines that could you overhauls and a new engine to take the place of one. Any help at all would rock..... This is a great site.

Well, the 2.3 won't bolt to the 2.9 trans. The bolt pattern is wrong. Personally, I'd but the dual plug in the Mustang, overhaul the 2.9, and haul the old 2.3 off for scrap.
