So I'm looking into the best and most economical ways to build my 93 ranger up prerunner style. I've been lookin into the giant engineering kits, HNM kits, Camburg and blitzkreig. all of which are for full coilover shocks. I also was looking into the skyjacker kit, 6"lift, with non coil over shocks, and standard spring perches.
What do you all think of this kit?
Do you think it will withstand jumping? or will it just crumble.
My other thoughts were to get the skyjacker kit (being only about 1000$ without springs and shocks) and build my own tube spring perches for coil overs, this would save me a lot of money over the camburg and others, being about 3 - 5000$ without shocks included.

Any thoughts? Experiences?

not sure you could always cut and turn your beams and eliminate the need for drop kits. then build custom radius arms and crossmember. about the only thing you would have to buy would be shocks. lots of work tho.

hmm, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by cut and turn the beams? having never done it. however, I'm not too afraid of fabrication, I'd get the satisfaction of building it myself then just buying it.

well do a search on hear for the cut and turned beams. but basically yo cut the beam right by the ball joint and bend them to correct for camber caused by lift springs. im still researching it myself.

Go to the Tech Library and read the article "Get More Wheel Travel". It has a lot of good information.

alright thanks for the tips everyone. I read through everything, and its looking like i'll probably make my own kit. seeing as all the true prerunner kits are really expensive.

well now matter what you end up doing (drop brackets or cut beams) keep us updated and take lots of pics of how and what you do so we can all see and learn.

for sure I'm going to document as much as possible along the way, probably won't be for a couple months though but once I'm started I'll keep everyone posted.. Although there seems to be a good amount of info on lifting our trucks, there arent that many images of it. So I'm just going to haveto measure up the suspension of my front end and see how the geometry lays out and just design up for the 15 - 20" suspension travel I'm lookin for.

You really only need about 12-14" of travel. You can get that easy out of the Ranger's. Check out www.dezertrangers.com, just don't ask any questions there cause almost everyone is a douche bag for no reason. Just read through and search threads, check out the classifieds there and on www.race-dezert.com.

My advice, go for a "bent beam" lift, extended radius arms, long shocks & mounts, 33" tires, make some rear shock hoops and get some 2.5 shocks on all 4 corners. Get them valved properly and you should have a pretty capable rig for cheap.

if you have a beamed truck, threat motorsports on here, on dezertrangers, and on race-dezert, offers lower priced kits. if an a-armed truck, brandon at BTF (not blue torch fab fyi) has a long travel and mid travel kit that run cheaper than the other companies too.

its cuz we've all gotten the same questions posted within a week or month of each other, when the same time taken to make a new thread could have found the old one to read, or bump for more info. it would be like your mom asking you how your day was, then 5 min later asking again, then again 5 min after that. it gets old.

If I were you I would build my own extended and bent beams or have someone do it, some extended radius arms, and tranny x-member, then look on race-dezert.com or dezertrangers.com and look for a good deal on a set of coilovers. bent beam kits are ok but as soon as you put one on your truck it just makes you want long travel WAY more. I have a bent beam kit on my truck now and it does good for what it is but just do it the right way the first time.(that is if you have the money)
