Skyjacker 6"

Looking at getting a skyjacker 6 in lift for my 93 Ranger 4x4.

First off, how stupid will it look with a 6 in lift and 265/70/15's?

Been told i dont need the extended brake lines if im not gunna jump the truck. True or false?

Camber bushings...who has needed them?

And one more, drop pitman arm. What one to get???

The 4-6 in or the 6-8 in?
 
Plus, what about drive shaf? SOrry guys. Im new to the 4x4 scene used to the muscle cars. Thanks.

VERY false!

You don't need to jump the truck to rip a brake line out, just flexing the suspension offroad, or even the dips at an intersection can do it.

Definitely get a set of proper length brake hoses on there. Your life (and others) are at stake here.

With 6" of lift, you'll want the FA600 drop pitman arm.

not sure on the d-shaft. you may be able to use a one piece shaft from another model year ranger. i have a b2 so i'm not sure about a ranger
 
Thanks a ton guys. Really appreciate the quick response. SO not the 400 dollar used kit has turned into a 7-800 dollars. But thats fine.

Skyjacker is the only company that makes a pitman arm that would work acceptably with a 6" lift (FA600 has a true drop of 4"). All the others (inc. the FA400) drop down 2" and will really make the truck handle like ass (not to mention rip the tread from your tires 5× as quick).

I found the stock rear hose was almost long enough on mine. If you drop the hardline bracket on the frame down a bit, you might be able to retain the stock hose as I did. But be sure to check. If it gets tight with the suspension at full-hang (and you can't lower it down enough), then you'll need the RBL35.

yep, lifting these trucks is expensive, especially for the good ones. the TTB is kind of a mix of an IFS (really expensive to do a suspension lift) and a solid axle (not so expensive to lift). so the price range of suspension lifts is somewhere in between the 2. sucks, but the good thing is, if you do it right, it can perform almost as well as a solid axle rig (junkie's rig is a great example, check out his cardomain link).

i was unemployed when i started assembling my lift. i couldnt afford to shell out $500 for even the cheapest lift all at once. so i bought stuff a little at a time. soon enough, i found a job and was able to buy everything else i needed. i've probably spent $300-$350 for everything. that's no lift blocks and the cheapo drop brackets (which i've since modified and should prove to be pretty stout). check out the classifieds, i bought 50% of my lift used from TRS members.
 
Is there a cheaper way to do the brake lines than the skyjacker kit?

yep, so 2 of each when you go to the parts store. those particular numbers are for autozone. like i said, that's where i got mine when i worked there. we only had 1 of each in stock, so i just had them transferred from the hub and got them the next day.



oh and btw, there's a 6" skyjacker lift for sale in the classifieds section for $350

Yes, one of each for both sides. So you will be buying 4 brake hoses. You screw two of them together to make one for each side.

You won't have a problem with the rear, the rear hose is generally long enough already, but make sure while you are under there.

That should save me like 80 bucks!

I have seen that lift and that's the one I will hopefully be buying. Now I just need to locate a pitman drop arm. I feel awful shelling out 200 bucks for one, but if I have to I will.
 
even if you found one on here used, it would still be close to $200 for a used one, unless you got real lucky. you can find the coils and drop brackets all day long, but not the pitman arms
