well, ive been saving up for a parts truck and currently have 500$ set aside for one. but i have yet to see another ranger like mine or any 1st gen remotley close for me to use. i was about to give up on C/L and buy a gen2 with a blown motor and auto tranny for 700 that was in town. so i check today and low and behold, a gen1 EXACTLY like mine except its a 2.0 and 40/60 seats.. and im guessing he wants 400$ for it acording to the post.

I'm selling a 1987 Ford Ranger 2.0 - 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 2wd pickup. I'm getting ready to deploy soon. I don't need this truck anymore and I need to sell it as soon as possible.
I've put in a new battery, distributor, ignition coil and spark plugs and wires. I also put in a better carburetor and the truck runs great and has decent tires on it. It just has an oil leak. I think its the rear main seal,
I don't have time to fix it, so my loss is your gain. I'll give it to the best offer by Friday night.

well even better is i was heading to the town its in, about 70 miles away, to take my dad to the doctor for a cardiac MRI. so it just seems too good to be true! the motor/trans is not what i want, mine are good and if they clunk, its geting a 2.5L out of a 98-01 or a /6.

so what you guys think? i cant wait for a reply from the owner.

Yukky colour...and it looks like the original carb but can't tell with its hat on...I'd have a good look at the firewall and frame before buying...

The oil leak is probably blow-by or valve cover...dump some no-smoke stop leak in it and run it if you do buy it...

Good news is the parts invested recently according to the add might be worth the price alone...and it's got aluminum rims that look to be 15"...or it's running 235/75/14...they look like my tires and rims...but actually a bit bigger...

As for price...scrap metal value would net you about $300 (in Canada)...but if you want to offer him $400 he'll probably jump at it...

well plans are to get it here and use it for body/interior parts since its the same color as mine :D i'd probly sell the rims and tires and buy a set of grabber AT2's in 27/9.5/14 and use the 14x6 steelies i painted up. or if it runs well enough, i may use it as my farm truck after removing the good parts and swaping on the beaten parts from my current truck as im getting tirerd of climbing in and out of an f-150 thats higher than it needs to be.. we dont have rust issues here in the ozarks so i aint too worried about rust..

How far are you from me? I'm in the far NW corner of TN and would like to sell my V-8 project Ranger

i live in NW arkansas, your clear across AR from me :( plus i dont have a trailer to tow with.

oh btw, anyone know what parts should i take off of my truck to bring with me incase i decide to drive it back? incase something breaks?

Hairball!!! Blagh!!! What a color....yucky. Hey, if it runs as good as he says and the leak is not really bad than get it. It would be a great second vehicle. The main seal is easy if you have a lift to use to get it up in the air. But, not all of us have that at the house..lol. I had to do a rear main seal on my sister's first year Sport Trac...but I got to use a stall at a buddy's shop after hours. That was great. Took only about 2 hrs to do it with two of us dong it. Had all the tools to use right there. Go check it out and look real close at that leak and make sure it is not something else causing the leaking.

well you said you don't really want the motor combo...and for 400 it's worth it even with a bad motor, as long as you make it home fine! out here that truck would probably be close to 1500...if the motor leak isn't bad.

well, i guess nothing will stop me from buying it. still waiting to get in contact with the owner... there was no email/phone# in the post, just the anonymouse email in the title..

no thoses are definitely smaller than that haha

there probly 205/75/14. its been 9hours and not an email back or phonecall.. i hope it hasn't been sold yet..

Drive around the city where it's located at, until you find it, then run to the front door and kick it down. hand him the money ( like a boss) and drive away with your sexy new gen 1 ranger. :icon_thumby:
