Im looking into buying this ranger....It a 99 2wd red 5 speed 123k 4cyl wants 2k back brakes hardware u joints gas filler hose and a couple other things....told me only rust is on tail gate which i would just get a new one what u think????

Sounds low... is your list of things that have been replaced, or need to be replaced. I'm guessing it's an Ontario truck. Low km's...

Have you seen it? Pics?

I paid 2800 for a 98 of nearly identical specs.

Does 2k sound too good to be true?

Well he wanted 2600 and i talked him down to 2k and no that the stuff he replaced

Well it gonna need 2 doors they rusted on the bottom and the bed a stepside gotta 2 not bad cracks but I drove it and it runs fine no wierd noises coming from the motor or the truck the interior is pretty decent it tan it brakes good too you think I should do it for 2 grand or see if I can talk him down a little more

The front end is nice the fenders chrome bumper and hood are in good shape not rotted at all not really scratched either. It gonna be a winter vehicle but I'd make it nicer I think I could do it doors wouldn't be hard or tailgate either but what u think

you did not answer my questions?

Have the brake lines been replaced?

have the hangers and shackles been replaced

if the truck has lived in Buffalo for a while those things are rusted and need replacing?...........

what does the coolant look like?

how long has he owned it?

has the timing belt been replaced?

I bought my truck 4 years ago off of Craigslist for $1,100. it needed a power steering pump. $23 and it took about an hour to install. along the way I put about 60k on it and replaced a bunch of things. ie, brakes, exhaust, clutch, battery, timing belt, alternator, fluids, plugs and wires, hangers and shackles, it is easy to work on and the 2.5 lima and 5MOD are good power train units. IMHO these basic trucks are pretty cheap. I often see then on craigslist for short money needing some work, ie brakes, hangers and shackles, clutch etc.

The back tires are like new fronts are decent no lights on the dash newley inspected runs fine no wierd noises coming from motor the clutch is decent on it

He said only rust was on the tail gate then you find rust on the doors...there is probably other work that it needs done. Did he drop price kinda easy? He might be trying to get rid of a Lemon. A good engine is useless if the rest falls apart. Sounds like he might have only done basic maintenance, any records of it? Did he change tranny fluid, diff fluid, etc? I would be careful or just inspect everything and Getty him to drop price if not.

Well I gotta find something decent before snow flys. Should I try to get him to drop the price more and I'm not sure about the fluids ill have to ask hm
