should i buy an '85 ranger

Does this year have a computer in it? When did Ford start putting them in their vehicles?

The 4-cylinder should be computerless. A V-6 would have had one, kinda.

Sorry it has taken so Kong to update. So the ranger stopped starting. While I was waiting for the salesman to finish the arrangements to have it checked out anther salesman from a different dealership in their network sold it to someone else. I didn't even get to test drive it. It would have been difficult anyway as this dealership is notorious for under valuing trades. Wherever I go they are always low by a couple hundred to $1000 below everyone else. I have however found a $1400 '88 f150. It is customized though and not even the owner knows everything. It has remote keyless entry and perhaps a remote starter that maybe disabled. One of the buttons seemed to sound almost like the engine was trying to turn over although very quietly. It has been lowered and I believe their are a couple of white faced gauges to what I don't know. Matter black finish or primer I'm not really sure. Any idea knowledge of parts or repair fixes on this being cost prohibitive. The engine I'm told is the 5.0 v8.
