My credo
Crossed threads are tight threads.
I am not a big fan of the worn down splines, and being 5/8" I've had a hard time fitting universal shift knobs.

Anyone thread their shifter? I was thinking cutting threads or welding on a coupling nut or something....

Dirtman has an entire dumpster of shift knobs. Ask him to send you one.
I dont wanna end up end in his basement cleaning his furnace (again).

upgrade to a hurst, the knob threads for is are 3/8”-16. plenty of options with that size.

And its a short throw! I didnt even know they made one for rangers...and it aint cheap, but Ima ordering one....Thanks rac!

I always ran B&M or Hurts shifters as a kid, never thought to look one up for my ranger until your post 🤦‍♂️

Ive had mine for many years, and its in its 2nd truck now. well worth the $

Buy some epoxy and epoxy the one you have now back on, problem solved. That's what I've done with a few shift knobs that have decided that remaining on the shift lever wasn't the plan...they never came off again after a bit of epoxy.

If you want a old school white knob you could cut down the shadt a lil and weld a bolt on the end I believe they existing lever is steel. Weld grind and paint it. The bolt size is in the link for a mustang knob from lMR, AM, CJ etc....

I ended up getting an oem replacement shift knob that's weighted and has some weird stuff in it that holds it pretty good once pressed down on the shifter. The weighted knob really makes a difference, much better. I will eventually upgrade to the hurst.

Can you give me a link for that? I need a couple!

I was gonna say, Hurst makes a Ranger shifter and it doesn't even cost a lot.
