Before I get told im stupid Ill put down all my factors and what my conclusion was

2008 Ford Ranger Sport
3.0 V6
Manual
4x2 regular cab

Normal driving about 10 miles to work and back with highway driving ect through the week its a new truck with about 2500 miles on it. Over the last 4 tanks of gas my MPG went up an average of 2.1 mpg. If you find that significant give it a shot I did Ill go with it. I know people had asked about shells new hydrogen gas this is what I found out compared to valero, texaco ect here in San Antonio. Its 89 Im buying at shell

I remember seeing a show on the history chanel about gas and refineing, they made it look like all the gas comes from the same place, they said if you take gas from one station and gas from another down the road they would be the same. They run all refine products through the same tubeing, but this is just a show on T.V. I kinda believe it more then some ad on tv or radio, just my .02 but if it works for you go with it.

Your gas mileage would most likely have improved no matter which brand of gasoline you used. You will probably experience even a little more improvement as you rack up the miles but not as significant. This is due to breaking in the vehicle. Everything is tight when new. As you put on miles the drive-train loosens up and causes less drag. This results in improved gas mileage. If you like Shell, use it but I doubt your gas mileage will drop by using another brand.

^^^^^What he said.

You are wasting $$ burning 89.

Try the same comparison using 87 now.

does shell use ethanol in their gas?

To my understanding, all gas is the same until it is mixed for the seller.

Does Shell use ethonal? That really depends on the region you live in. Around here, its all a mix of non-ethonal and e-10 blend. Shell just around the corner says they don't, but other stations besides Shell do.

Whatever it is, Shell's "v-power" addivitve gives much more mpg than other brands. Proven.

Is it enough of a increase to justify the higher cost? Probably not. But think of it this way, money is reuseable, gasonline is not, so even tho you do pay more for the gasoline, you are still making a impact on your carbon footprint!:headbang:

I use to live near a fuel depot, I saw many different companys fill their tankers at the same pumps. This leads me to believe that it doesn't matter where you fuel up its mostly the same. I was also told that all types and grades are pumped to the fuel depots from refineries in the same main lines, meaning there is some mixing of types and grades going on.

Gasoline is like oil filters, it's all the same with a different companies sticker slapped on it.

Now there's a way to start a heated arguement. IMO most people get their brand preference from their "Buddy the super mechanic." If you have a preference go with that. I've never bought a fram filter in my life, and when someone asked me why i think Fram is junk, I simply said.... UH... cause some guy said they have cardboard in them...(which i have no proof of) and my dad dislike fram and everyone ive talked to likes using a generic like motomaster, etc. I know my vehicle runs better depending on which pump i fill up at (shell, esso, mohawk, etc.) but if I went to a different city I bet I couldn't rely on the sellers i use now. After all, gas companies are out to make the most money they can. If you have a specific place where you get better gas milage by using there gas, good for you, but I can't say "shell is better than so and so" just because that was your experience. But thats just my 2c. (more like 50:icon_twisted:)

There's a purolator plant in Fayetteville,NC. It's about 50 minutes from my house. They make filters and slap different companies stickers on them. :icon_thumby: Believe what you want, it's the damn truth.
