Shaking truck

Haha, yeah that clunking thing is still a problem. Its amazing how many things have gone bad on this one. I don't think I have ever owned a ranger with so many problems. But its okay. Just have get after it one problem at a time.

This truck was towed behind a motorhome most if its life. At least that's what I could gather from the previous owner. They haven't done much to it maintenance wise other than change the oil regularly. It was a very neglected truck. My goal is to bring it back to its glory days.

If your alignment wasn't off to start with, rotating the tires didn't change it- your pull is caused by the tires. If you swap the front two tires side to side it will pull right. Bad alignment wont cause bounce either, at least not at first. A bad alignment with new tires may or may not have some pull, but won't bounce. However, driving around with bad alignment will cause to tires to wear crazy and that will cause pull and all kinds of issues including some bounce. This isn't to say that a worn out front end won't cause some bouncing, but just out of align won't- at least at first. You have to have some play in there for any looseness to occur. Radial tire pull is another factor. Perfect alignment and new but crappy tires can still make it pull and bounce. This is why I suggested you rotate the tires. It makes a big difference when the bad tire/s is on the front or back. Problem tires aren't so noticeable on the rear. If you get new tires get the alignment checked by all means- but if you JUST line it up and don't get new tires, your problem will remain until the tires are swapped.

And shocks- yes. Bad shocks can cause the tires to "skip" along the road a bit which causes cupping. Cupping makes the tires less round and certainly throws the balance off due to uneven wear. Run with bad shocks long enough and your tires will start to bounce.

Trust me, you dont want a ball joint or a tie rod end to break while you are driving. Fix the ball jolnts, get the front aligned and then put the new tires on.

for what little its worth, I had a bubble in my expedition tire that caused this. (im sure you checked when you rotated tires)
