My son has a 91 ranger 2.3l that is manual steering. For Christmas I got him everything ( mostly from junk yards) to put in power steering. I can’t find any info. Pictures or part numbers for the alternator/power steering pump belt tensioner. I have the main mounting brackets for the pump and alt. But it didn’t have that tensioner assembly. I’ve been looking for hours for info but come up with nothing. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Those are extremely hard to find, the one on my '90 is about shot... there was a thread within about the last year about them that had a part number, if I get a chance to look for it I'll see what I can come up with...

I’m gonna move this over to the appropriate section, may get some more help there…

Part number would be helpful. These two are available, which replace several other numbers. E93Z-6B209-A and F13Z-6B209-A . rearcounter has a ton of nos ford parts . They can only use part numbers though . I have bought quite of parts through them over the years , Good luck

OK, I am going to start from the beginning. I went to a junkyard and found a 1988 Ford Ranger with all the power steering mounts and brackets on it so I took those off along with the gearbox and the hoses. That is the first two pictures . I went to another junkyard here in Phoenix, looking for some other parts and happened to stumble upon this 1989 that still had the power steering bracket on it. The rest of the engine had been scavenged, but this was still left. What I noticed between the two is they are completely different mounting brackets. They were both 2.3l and on the 1988 there is a tapped hole on the block for one mounting bolt that my 91 does not have. On the 1988 mount there is also a 2nd heavy stamped mounting bracket that bolts to the main mount and then bolts lower on the side of the block. the 1989 mount has bolt holes that will all line up with holes in the block and the aluminum is formed to miss the coil pack. The 88 has a stationary tensioner pulley, and I believe you move the alternator around to put tension on the belt. The 89 has a tensioner pulley where you actually use the pulley to put the tension on the belt, but from the pictures I can find via part numbers from a Ford dealership and then just researching they do not look anything like the part numbers you gave me. The last picture is the one of a gates tensioner ( no longer made)that is supposed to go with the 1989 power steering mount. The funny thing is is the dealership lists both of these mounts for this truck. When I had first asked the parts guy at the dealership to pull me up a photo of the proper power steering mount for a 91 ranger he sent me a photo of the first power steering pump bracket which is actually the one that doesn’t really fit on 100% like it should utilizing all the holes the ones that are there actually do have holes in the block to mount. It’s just one of them that does not have a hole in the block. The second power steering bracket has three bolt holes for the block that the block on the truck actually does have to bolt it like it should be. The downside is is this belt tensioner is missing that’s why I’m trying to find it because it seems like it would be the one to use over the first one.
The last 2 pictures you can see the difference . The one on the left is the 1988 and the one on the right is the 1989.

At some point the alternator was on the driverds side of the engine with the 2.3 lima, the last 2.3 I had the alt was on passenger side, drivers side has a heavy aluminum bracket that the power steering pump mounts to, on top of that bracket is where the a/c compressor would mount. The tensioner would be under the alternator. Heres the best picture I have - this was a 1994

Both of these are for drivers side mount of alt. And power steering pump. This body style went until 92 and after that a lot of things changed from what I can tell.

I believe the ford number is E9TZ3F671A. The gates number is 36155. I haven’t had any luck actually finding a picture of the OEM ford part accompanied by a picture to verify the part but gates number has a picture with the part. I have even had the dealership send me the complete diagram of the alternator/ power steering pump assembly for a 91 and it is wrong. They show the set up for a pre-91 single plug engine which is different than the dual plug. I’m at the point right now of making one. I have the equipment to do that but was hoping not to have to that.

I’ll check with local guy . The part number you sent isn’t available from rear counter .

Everywhere I’ve looked it’s been unavailable. I literally have hours searching to no avail. If you could come up with something that would be great , I appreciate the effort.
