i dont know a whole lot about lifting trucks. i know that anywhere between 1 and 6 inches is just bolt ons. but i was wondering, i already have a 3 inch body lift on the truck. and im looking into getting stock lift blocks for the rear axle, but i want to keep the leveled look. i was thinking on 2inch spacers with new coils. but also i can get a set of 2in lift coils for like a 100bucks so would the 2in lift coils and 2in spacers add up to 4ins of lift or am i just majorly over thinkin this. also im like 90 percent positive that most 4wd kits work for the 2wd but i could be wrong. anyway. im lookin to put a set of 31 10.5/15s on er, i have 3.08 gears and 7.5 rear end. im trying to get an 8.8 with 4.10s but thats slim pickins. is there anything you suggest i do to the gearing?

i know about the alignment issues since i put the 302 in and its already outta wack.

also how much do i need to pay attention to wheel backspacing when doing this. i dont wanna just slap this together and call it good i wanna do it the right way and i could use some help.:icon_confused:

you can only lift the front two inches with out lift brackets.

Please search, someone asks this exact question literally every week

ok so if i go over 2inches i have to get radius arm drops then i take it?

You will need more than that. The only way to lift the front more than 2 inches is to actually buy a lift kit. And yeah you can fit 31s not problem now. If you only want 31s just stick with the body lift.

4wd kits wont work on a 2wd. the beams are different thicknesses and the axle brackets are different. (but with a grinder and a welder, anything is possible)

you can only lift the front suspension 2 inches on stock drop brackets, if you wanna be able to align it.

as far as gearing, i'd just find an 8.8 from an EX that already has 3.73's or 4.10's and bolt that in. spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars to regear the 7.5 is a waste of money IMO. especially when you can just swap in a stronger axle with a better gear ratio for $100-$300, depending on axle prices in your area.

but if you already have a body lift, just stick with that and use the money to buy a new rear axle

No need to get a new axle unless it's for offroad use only. And u cant Bolt in an exploder axle either. You have to fab it. Rangers are oversprung expos are undersprung. And I ran 31" tires with 3.73gears and a wore out 2.3 5speed and had no issues unless I got stuck. If u have a v6 you will be fine with the body lift and 31" tires.

seeing as he has the v8 rbv banner under his user name, i'd say that an expo 8.8 swap is a good idea even if it's just a street truck. better safe than sorry.

i dont have a welder to swap in the expo 8.8. i wish that was an option but its not. do all of the ranger 8.8s interchange without mods? i think they should but im not positive
