I can understand that, but the rear is as wide as the fenders, it does not drop back to the bed width like ALL Duallies before it. I guess they could use that rear in landscaping, just put some hydraulics/air bags in the rear along with some weight in the bed and us it as a Box Blade. LOL - J/K - just being a smart ass . . . LOL
 
They could use it for in bed storage. Just because it has always been done, doesn't mean it still should be. If Toyota did that they would still be a small fish instead of THE big fish.
 
if Toyota brought that to market for a decent price it fundamentally the 1 ton HD market. you are looking at a class 6 powertrain stuffed into a light duty truck.
