I sold my '01 Toyota Tacoma TRD a couple of years ago because it was too clean and straight to take off road. I wanted something that I could beat the crap out of and not feel bad about it. I bought a '99 Ranger xcab 4.0 with it's share of dents and I've been happy with it as a form of transportation.
HOWEVER, as an off road vehicle I've been highly annoyed at how few lifting options there are for this damn truck and how much they cost. All the good stuff is for the 83-97 Rangers. The only lifts available for the 98+ are $2000 plus (The Superlift including a driveshaft, and the RCD, which I must say looks very nice). I would like to keep this Ranger and lift it about 4", put some 33"s on it, and a locker in the rear. Seems simple enough, but where can I find a reasonably priced lift? I notice the kits for the older trucks are about $450. That's more like it. The Toyotas have it even better, with gobs of lifting options, and even at least three well known SAS conversion kits. Why no love for the Ranger?
