Yeah, I'd probably go 3.5" since you have an older body style and a heavier engine.
 
The problem I ran into with the cut down axle is the diff hitting the crosmember I cut a lot out but still need to install bump stops if you went full with you shouldn't have this problem. Also most eb springs are too soft for the super cabs I just ordered my 4th set of springs had cage 3.5 progressive springs way to soft. Tried f150 springs to big. Currently I'm running 3.5in dever from bronco graveyard work very well but still a bit to soft so I called dever and order some custom ones. The ones I have now are 190 there makeing me some 225s.
