Hey guys, im getting ready to order the parts I need to finish my SAS and I want to order parts just once. When I had my 2wd on I had 18" long coils (4" lift) and 33" tires, and with my sas i want to be able to fit 35" tires. So for coil springs would some 20" EB coils like these http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-13205-super-flex-coil-springs-2-.html give me the clearance? I would order bigger just in case but I dont want to go over a 35 or 36" tire. Thanks!

on my truck I am using the 5.5 superflex springs, and I am running 36s

5.5"? My truck would be huge with 5.5" springs. Must be because of the extended cab.

I've got 3.5" EB springs and 35's (minor trimming).

Its adequate lift for the tires

where did you pick up your 3.5" EB coils from BrayD? Good lookin truck by the way

Hey Bray D, I hadn't seen your truck on here before. That thing is beast!
(Sorry to get off topic)

Thanks. Mine are 3.5" EB rock crawler coils from wildhorses4x4. I bought them used though, so any settling that may occur has already happened.

edit: My build thread is the "daily doubler build" in RBV's under construction. /hijack

hmm, it dosent say how tall they are un-compressed. Do you happen to remember?

I never measured. They're a dual rate spring with each rate being a different length of coil, so calculating compression distance would be difficult anyways.

Light rate is 204lb/in

Heavy rate is 375lb/in

You can calculate the effective spring rate, but like I said, there's not an equal amount of soft coils as there are stiff. Never measured their distances either haha.

He's got an older generation though, with a lot smaller wheel wells. I have a hefty winch/winch bumper and my trucks an excab and I'm running a skyjacker 7" EB coil (same as soft ride 6" fullsize coil) and they sit at 20" with the truck weighing 3000lbs on the front axle.

Im not sure how much my truck weighs on the front axle but my 1st gen wheel wells are much smaller. Bronco Graveyard will let you ship them back but at your own cost, and it aint cheep so I may go with the 3.5" instead of the 2.5

I'd definitely go with at least the 3.5".

Also another SAS question, when you narrow a axle and reweld/bolt the radius arms back to ranger width, wouldnt the differential and transfer case not line up correctly?

The short side's are within a 1/4" of each other, the length difference between narrow (Early bronco) and full width (Fullsize Bronco & F150) is the 6" on the long side. The diff will line right back up to the driveshaft as it did stock.

And even if it didn't, that's what u-joints are for :icon_thumby:

Yea i see, I dont know if im gonna narrow or not. Im just gonna mock up the axle and see how bad it looks full width. Oh yea back to ride height, I totally forgot to mention i have a 3" BL on, still 3.5?
