I am possibly getting a Dana 30 out of a Jeep to do a SAS on the BII with.

what is a good coil that will give roughly 5"-6" of lift on a BII?

wouldnt the 6.6" coils be too soft?

Rustys 8-9" XJ Coils...stupid amount of flex

I don't want it lifted anymore than it already is.

I think those would be too much lift. The lift springs I have in there now are only 18" long when out of the truck.

superflex 5.5" eb coils netted the same amount of lift my 8" SJ RBV coils did

That is too much lift. I will probably run the Skyjacker 6" RBV lift coils, that way I know I get the lift I want.

No, you won't.

You are looking for a certain compressed length, that's what determines the vehicle height when the full weight is being supported. An 18" free length means nothing if you don't know the spring rate. You can do the same calculation as outlined in the Tech Library, just leave out the 1.5X TTB factor. For example, if you see about 1100 lbs per front corner, and you want a 15" compressed length, as well as have enough travel to warrant a 20" free length you would get this:

20" - 15" = 5" That's the amount of compression in the spring.

1100lb / 5" = 220lb/in This gives you the amount of force required by the spring per inch of compression.

It's a bit different than the TTB coil rate (try half)

hmmm....I know the Skyjacker 6" lift spring has a spring rate of 435 in. #.

Do you have any recommendations on springs Johnny?

xj coils are 240# that might get you there.19" free?

how many sas buildups have you looked at? theres got to be plenty of guys running about 6"s of lift

What are you wanting for a free length? The Rancho XJ coils (at 240lb/in, as mentioned) might be about right. If you added a winch/bumper they'd probably even out a bit lower.

My buddy is running 5.5" XJ coils on his SAS'd '03 Ranger. He has adjustable coil towers though. He said the free length was 22". I think that is close to what I am looking for when I take out for the extra height of the TTB beams.

Skyjacker 6" XJ coils gave Junkie 5.5" on his BII(w/ TTB), they are 240 ppi. Those may work. He said the Rancho coils liked to sag out and the SJ's haven't sagged yet. I'm not sure how'd they differ with a SAS though.
