I have decided it would be best to just get the new oil pump and bite the bullet and pull the motor back out. I pulled it and put it back in in 2days so hopefully it will go that smoothly again.
Ok so lastnight I pulled the engine back out of my 01 ranger dropped the oil pan and checked the oil pump. First off the bolt that holds the oil pump on wasent even tight actually it was loose very loose as in I could wiggle the oil pump so I suspect that is why the oil pump would not prime. I have the new oil pump the only question I have is the shaft that drives the oil pump is on the old pump how do I remove it to put it on the new one I can remove the gear entirely but shouldnt I be able to remove just the rod connecting to it? I also checked the oil pan a few fine shavings but nothing I belive to be bad I checked all the main bearing and all seems to be fine. Let me know if you guys have any input. Thanks for your help everyone.
SO I got the motor back in lastnight and boom instant oil pressure all is running good. The only problem im having now is the breaks well there is none is there a vacume that runs from the engine to them that I may have missed there is a vacume on the back of the intake driver side that has notthing on it i belive something goes there could that be it?
Good job putting the new pump in was the wise decision at that stage of the game that is partly why I put a new pump in any motor I install plus the rear main seal for s%#&s and giggles most everything else can be done up top.
