Saginaw Pump Installed!

Reason I asked is because I have wanted to do this on my 2.9 for a while but everyone has a different story. Some say you need to modify the housing and lines but then on your 4 cylinder it was a direct bolt on from what I can tell

You should be fine. Your lines should fit. Any clearance problems can be solved with a grinder.

Im gonna have to do this on my dads 4.9L, can hear that thing comin a block away! Sounds like a really big R/C car.

However since the crappy PS pumps are the same across the board, the bolt pattern is the same.

I hope so... but '44's 2 out of 3 bolt situation BOTHERS ME... :shok: He wasn't sure if it was BOLT PATTERN ALIGNMENT, or merely stripped threads. This is a belt-driven accy with a lot of tension on it.

Those 2 bolts have held fine for over a year.

Is it just the 79 T-Bird that has this power steering pump, or are there other years.

That's just the application I used to get it new from O'Reilly's.

Not sure if any actually came stock form the factory or anything.

Hmmmmm. the pump in the '90 Crown Vic is VERY close to letting go... Since the '79 Bird was obviously a V8, be it a 302, 351, or a 460 (was that even an option that year?) I am safe in assuming this is a viable solution?

I tryed to buy one, all that showed up on the part store computer was the plastic pump

OK, they cost 2x, but sounds like they're WORTH IT.

Pretty funny if they give you 7x the core charge for the plastic one, LOL! :yahoo:
