My 1998 Ford Contour's check engine light came on a week ago and I looked up the code and it said it is running to lean so I deleted the code and now a week later the light is back on and I got the same reading. Does anyone know what would cause it to run lean and how do I fix this?

Well, simply erasing the code won't fix the problem. I would also ask if there were any other codes that the reader may have pulled. My first guess would be an Oxygen sensor. Now on that year contour, there would be at least 2, if not 4 of them. Figuring out which one if this is indeed the problem may be more involved. Hence why any other codes would help.

What was the code that did come up? NUMBER!
