Rubber Body Bushings

I replaced all the rotted out rubber body bushings on my 92 Super Cab with a quality set of urethane bushings. They certainly hold things together very tightly but I now feel a lot more road vibration coming through the cab and I can feel the frame quiver underneath me when accelerating hard from a stop.

I'm beginning to appreciate the OEM rubber bushings more and more. Does anyone know of a source for these OE bushings? If not available, are the bushings on the newer Rangers similar enough that I could use them on my 92? Any after market bushings out there that are made of rubber? Can I make my own somehow? I've heard of people doing this out of hockey pucks but they seem way to stiff to me.

I bought a complete set for the cab directly from Ford in 2004 but they were $80 each x 6 = $480...plus I had to buy a few other odds and ends...not sure if they are still available now...but the local auto parts place I deal with said they could get them in...and they were priced similar to what I paid Ford...can't remember exactly but they are much cheaper in the USA...

I had to put a 1" lift on my truck last year and guess what was fast, cheap and easy...a hooker...er, sorry, hockey pucks...I was planning on replacing them once I got the clearance I needed but they are still on there...and many have said as long as you don't hit too many hard bumps they will last a long time...

It also helps to glue them to a washer but I'm not going to try to promote the idea...they will work in a pinch but having the proper hardware in there is a must...

LMC truck sells the OEM style bushings... and all the hardware for OEM. But it adds up going that way.

Anyone know if there are there any other Ford products that have body mounts that are compatible with the Ranger?

I'll try LMC but I understood they only had the poly mounts.

Don't know how I missed this page but there it is. I'll order a set and see how they work.

Thanks!

I see the price hasn't dropped much...but, then again, with 30% on top of that price that is about what I'd pay for the same thing now...

Still outrageous but probably the most important part of the whole truck...so skimping here is not recommended...

When you put them on try dipping the bolts in grease before you insert them...it will be messy but it will help preserve the bolts and other parts...if I'd known what ten years of driving in salty slush would do to my $600 investment (just the mount parts) I would have taken steps to protect them better...when I took them off last summer to swap the cab most of them were so badly rusted I had to replace them...still working on that, actually...

Managed to salvage the rear mounts and some of the middle...the fronts were toast...

I have heard that one can help preserve rubber bushings by coating them in silicon grease. I've got some brake grease left over from a job so I'm going to try that.

Also, I might coat the threads in anti-seize to see if that keeps them from rusting. We don't get much road salt in California by my old mounts were rusted solid anyway. Must be something about their design.

Anyone know what the torque is for the factory style body mount bushings.
