Rough shifting Transmission

I own a 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0 Engine 5 speed automatic transmission. Normally the transmission shifts smooth but on occasion it shifts rough into the next gear the truck feels like its jerking. I have not had any slipping and no warning lights have come on. Has anyone else had this problem? Or is it common in Rangers?

change your fliud and filter could be a fliud issue. and could it be that you are giving it enough gas to make it drop into passing gear but not realizing it? . mine pulls the same way when i punch it. or is it a random shift problem with steady throttle pressure?

trnsmission shifts rough

Its a random thing sometimes it upsifts rough or even when you apply the gas slightly to pick up some speed. it feels like the transmission is confused about what gear it should be in.

A jerk or buck under light accel could be a misfire. How many miles on your truck? If you have access to a FORD scan tool you can check MODE 6 data for misfires. IF it determined that the engine is NOT misfiring and the problem only happens when shifts occur then the EPC sol in the trans is probally sticking. I think the problem is engine related.

One Point I did not mention earlier is i installed a cold air intake on the truck. I noticed the problem started after that. Could it be the air flow sensor?
