Just swapped in a rebuilt motor due to low compression and oil consumption on the last one. I sort of have an idea of what it is and it was a rebuild error on my part. New motor has about 5-6k on it, no oil issues or overheating or fluids mixing, HOWEVER, due to improper surface prep… i have coolant leaking from the edges of my head gasket.
Now i know, bingo there is your issue, head gasket, here is why i have been looking around though for something other than the head gasket, i dont have white smoke out the tail pipe or like i said, fluids mixing, or any overheating or bubbles in the coolant, but it still stalls. It was an issue with the last motor too, part of me thinks wiring, or maybe the last motor had a blown HG too.
thought cats for a little because i have a code for them but i stuck a scope down there and saw no cloggs in the honeycomb and the back pressure didnt go over 1 psi. So that was ruled out, checked out the wire on one of my fuel injectors because it was frayed, that checked out good, checked fuel pressure… 65psi, so that checked out. Im wondering if the head gasket could be the culprit for my stalling and rough idle, or wires. Torque converter also crossed my mind at some point, i don't think that would cause this specific set of symptoms though, i just need some second opinions from some other experienced folks here, cam syncro could be a culprit too, the ford one i installed had a slight squeak that went away as soon as the new motor was primed, there is no codes but p0420 and p0442. At the end of the day, head gasket is getting redone anyway, just thought it was a bit strange if it caused my stalling.
