RockRangerII refresh

Thanks. We do have some cool stuff. The last two trails (Dusy and Coyote) are both less then two hours from my house. As much as California has it things that suck we have a wide variety of wheeling available. I want to get up to BC. What I have seen in pictures it looks awesome but don't know about the wheeling. I have only been to Canada twice. Brandon Manitoba and Toronto. Both times just for a day.
I used to wheel a fair amount when I lived on Vancouver Island 8 or 10 years ago and knew some amazing places to go but that was a long time ago. I miss wheeling a lot but don't know where to go locally. Once I get closer to a complete truck I'll join one of the local clubs.
Would love to have other guys with RBV's to wheel with from TRS, around here or around where you guys go.

Are you running adapters or spacers in the rear?

Adapters in the rear and spacers in the front.

I never had a good place to hang the mic for my CB. With getting my ham license and eventually adding a second radio to my truck I needed something better then just laying it on the seat. Looking at the dash of the truck I determined the best spot is below the radio and above the HVAC controls. So I drew up a bracket cut bent and welded and ended up with this.

Here it is held to the dash while I check layout.

Until I get a vehicle mounted ham radio I can clip by hand held on one side.

I am thinking of pop riveting on as I doubt screws will hold well enough. I am open to other options for attachment to the dash though.

In addition to my hilift I also carry a bottle jack. Using a bottle jack has a few drawbacks though. The small flat top likes to slip off the round tube of axles and often times with bigger tires you can run out of jack before you get the vehicle high enough. So I made this adapter that slides over the top of my jack and adds 2" to the height. It is more then enough now to get my truck high enough to change a tire.

Hey rock ranger, if I buy the steel and make the pattern would you be willing to cut her out for me? I'd like to build a bumper for my 99.

I'd pay you of course...

We could work something out. Either dimensions or templates would be needed. Cardboard cad works.

Which piece? With my cnc plasma table duplicates are easy to make.

Now that's awesome! Creativity with a clear purpose that takes up minimal space. Great design! :icon_thumby:

Nice, I like the small touches you put into this thing. I wish I had a CNC plasma table

You should make a base plate for the hilift that digs into soft surfaces and distributes the load better, and that slider adapter to fit 1.75. I'd buy some

I thought about a base plate for the hilift but haven't thought of something better or cheaper then the one already available.

For the adapter to the slider I made some changes and came up with this that should fit any size tube up to 2".

I ran out of time and have to go back to work so it will be a few weeks till I get a chance to make one. I will keep you posted as I can make a few extras for sure.

Did you go up wheeling on the 28th? I thought I saw you at the bottom of the 4 lanes. I was in the black step side ranger, parked on the curve. Then I saw two more Rangers go up after you.
