HOW to remove the id plugs form each end of the shaft so that the id can be cleaned of deposits???????????

IIRC they are just like little freeze plugs, so remove the cotter key and drive them sideways and pry them out. Just be careful not to gouge the inside of the shaft if you're re-using it because the new plug will have to seal the ends again.
