I track race a 1990 ranger. Any opinions you have on making it faster are appreciated.
Where we’re at:
Longbed
stock 2.9L & 5-speed. (Amazing we can still rev this 30 year old engine over 5K for hours)
8.8 rear-end swap with bracket flip
Cut front springs.
PS deleted
15x8 alloy slot mags on 200TW
Huge 3-row radiator
Gutted, caged, fire suppression, halo seat
Poly bushings everywhere up front
3” exhaust with a cherry bomb, cats and resonator deleted.
where we’re headed:
Custom fabbed watts link
F-350 master cylinder to feed 4 piston Wilwood racing brakes & pads up front with bias adjuster
94/95 mustang gt engine and T5 swap with modest bells and whistles.
Homemade front spoiler/air dam with brake cooling ducts.

Dream beams (seems like a no brainer)
Coilovers

We finished 5th in class in our first race and pissed away a podium in the pits. We’ll be able to stay in class with everything except the engine swap. The dream beams might need to be disguised if we go that route.
