Rhino Liner/Line X

I need your opinions, i got a 99 ranger with Cooper STT's. I do alot of driving on gravel roads and these tires throw rocks like CRAZY!!!!! so bad that there is no paint under my doors where the body "rolls" under. I was thinking of black Rhino Liner/Line-x or whatever from the bottom of the door line down. How do you think it will look?? should it be black or try to color match?? i just dont want the truck to rust and paint just aint gonne cut it. Here is a side veiw, ill try to take a pic of the missing paint tommorrow.

line-x can probaly match it pretty close but with a hefty price. Black would also work well but spray-ins are just high in price so do it your self with Herculiner. Did the bed of my 91 and it's perfect.

Yep, Herculiner is good stuff, I did my bed with it, good stuff! i paid like 80 for a gallon can and that will do the whole bed so that should be plenty for your purposes

Herculiner sucks. If you do use it get the uv stabilizer.

Look at the pics of my BII in the Tech Library under Body, Fender Cutting 101. I had the rockers color matched with Line-X. Cost about 350 if I remember correctly. I love it. My tires (33x12.50) toss rocks but I don't have to worry about paint chips.

I have considered this too at work we do all of our construction turcks at line-X one time I was there the dude was taping off around wheel wells and some guy was comming over to repaint with the exact color made me think a little He said the labor in taping it off jacks the price up

i talked to line-x today, not goin that route. it was $600 plus $300 to color match!!!!! but only 450 to do the bedliner!!!! WTF??? ill rattle can it before i pay that much to have it done!!!!

o and for line-x its a wast of money its around 1200 to 2500 and there isn't all that much work or liner in it..... i use to work for line-x and after seeing the bill for the rockers i sprayed ill never have them do any thing im going to beat to death but for show its the best looking stuff out there i did my old CBR 600 when i worked there

Ok, so im gonna use spray on herculiner, all i gotta do is tape of what i want to cover, cover anything i dont want it on, rough it up a bit,(with sandpaper?), spray it, wait a couple minutes, pull the tape off(while its still wet), and let it dry?

What kind of finish do you want? I have used DupliColor Bed Liner in a rattle can to coat my wheel wells, suspension parts and used it as undercoating in some areas. You can spray it on smoothly and it looks like trim paint and easier to clean than the rough texture. You can also spray it to have a rough texture. I,m using this to restore a 1979 Dodge Power Wagon Macho. I'll have to see how it holds up, but it looks good smooth with a satin finish.

make sure you use something like duplicolors prep spray to clean all the grease and grime off before you spray the liner on!!!

and take your time taping it on... the more time you take doing this the better it will be.

also, do a row of tape first then tape your masking material for the overspray on top of the tape you used for your line... that way you have more flexibility to get a strait line without having to worry about paper getting in your way.

use rubber gloves so the oil from your hands won't ruin the adhesion of the liner if you touch the surface.
