Bobby is on to something here.
many times I have had to shove a hand up into, over, around, and thru a cramped hidden place to get something.
getting snagged by a sharp part is almost required. the worst scenario is forcing past something that turns into a one-way wedge that traps your hand. BTDT

here is a think out-of-the-box idea.
remove just the transmission mount and pull the tranny to the pass side with a ratchet strap, or whatever.
or a combination of down 'n over.

have you tested the switch?
