Restoring the old Eight Nine Stang

Holy crap, what a day. Nothing like taking ALL DAMN DAY to do a set of headers, They are made by Brentech and fit AWESOME with the GT40P heads. Not bad for 100 dollar headers. I'm extremely impressed with the quality. Every hole was dead on where it was supposed to be, and I was able to use a socket on about half of them, which is a big plus for me. Unfortunately the project is not complete though. I need to take it to the muffler shop and get the socket (ball and socket joints) replaced on the drivers side muffler because apparently when my friend built the T5, one of his guys bent the holy piss out of it. Anyway, here are some pics of the new headers.

I just looked, and these things are the Brothers Performance branded header now. There is a link in my next post (2 down). Thanks JoshT for pointing that out.

This is a before pic

Here's the clearance on plug 7 with a 90 degree plug wire

Plug 7 without the wire, plenty of clearance now

Now the headers are as shiny is the outside!

Look good dude! Did a quick google search for "Brentech headers" and all I found was posts made by you on multiple forums. So I gotta ask where did you get them? Think they'd work on the P heads in a First Gen Ranger?

Well, when I bought them they were called Brentech. I just looked and Brothers Performance is calling them their house brand now. As far as the 1st gen Ranger, if regular Mustang headers fit, these should work fine. Here's a link.

Sorry for the confusion!!!

I knew I wasn't nuts. I found this ad in my catalog that calls them Brentech brand.

Well, technically some people call them headers. BUT, they are extremely restrictive in a few areas, most notably right out of the head. There's also a huge dimple where the steering shaft goes by the header. These ones I bought say 12hp over stock. I probably won't notice anything because I'm just swapping brands. Just for the record, I've read that the factory header works on P heads as well.

Here's a comparison of my MAC's and the new headers. You can see either of these is much less restrictive than factory:

Dude tell me about it.

yup i am most deffinetly interested

I took her out for her first beatin' of the summer and snapped a small video. It's from about 20-25mph to about 90 when I let off. She feels a little sluggish, but she always does on the first beatin'.

In the above video, you can see how well my intake pulls up top. My 1st to 2nd shift is at about 6200rpm's. It's high time for a camshaft though. I really want to stick to the E303/B303 lineup, but I'm open to suggestions. I have 1.7 rockers, so I think maybe a B303 is too much. I sure love the sound they produce at idle.
