Restoring the old Eight Nine Stang

Looking good. You know where I can get a full set of water pump bolts with the studs on them. I need them for my power steering bracket and the previous owner just bought bolts from ace.

The only place I know that sells them as a kit is Latemodel Restoration. They are pricey (IMO) but they are all correct. Here they are:

EDIT: Just an FYI, I paid about 80 dollars from the dealer for my set last time I did my pump. That was the only place I could get them back then.

Those are a bit pricey :bawling:, thanks for the link :icon_thumby:

I froze my butt off this morning getting this pulley mounted. That was some tough steel to get through!

I need to go get a little shorter belt, but this is how it will look:

I worked on it for a bit yesterday. It was my original plan to utilize the Taurus fan upside down as-is, and mount the overflow tank to it. In fact I even went as far as mounting the tank yesterday. But I didn't like it.

After I had done this, I leaned it next to the factory shroud off my Mustang and noticed that the Taurus fan nestled into it rather well. All it would need is a little trimming. So I got out my HF Mulit-tool and went to work.

I also re-clocked the motor so the wires face the drivers side while I was at it. Then this is how it looked after it was bolted into the Mustang shroud.

This is a my mock up prior to installing the overflow. I also tested the fan while I was here.

Here is the final install. It clears everything pretty well.

When I was at the wrecking yard, I found a low mile 98 V6 Mustang. So, I nabbed the alternator. I already had a 3G swap, but this one is in better shape.

I haven't been on TRS in a while and I have been missing out on this thread. Your foxbody looks great man! I'm going to show this to my brother, he has a foxbody himself.

I haven't been logging on very often lately either. I can't wait to get this thing up and going again. I had planned on working on it all day yesterday, but I spent the day doing brakes on my Dad's Explorer and then trying to fix my tiller (motor seized). I think I've seen pictures of your Brothers Fox. IIRC, it is blue?

looks good man. Do you have a part number for that powerstroke idler pulley and aluminum spacer?

My Mustang has had a K&N conical filter on it for about 15-16 years now. I bought it back before I really understood what I was doing - creating a hot air intake. With all of my recent underhood changes, I decided to go back to a similar setup to factory. To do this, I had to go back to a panel filter. So, I set out to get a K&N or an Accel Kool Blue stock replacement filter. In my research, I found something that made me do something that I never thought I would again. I bought a filter made by Fram. I read reviews on the web and found a lot of praise for the Fram Air Hog. I've seen them around, but didn't realize they are quite similar to a K&N, if not better. That's right - I said better. I have held several-o-K&N filters before, and this seems to be a better construction. It is also USA made, which I love.

Let me just say that I have given Fram my share of criticism with their horrible oil and fuel filters. So much that I feel strange purchasing and even giving them props on a nice filter.

This Taurus fan project got kicked into high gear when the transmission decided to take a dump in our Escape. I didn't get to be as thorough as I would have liked, but I will go back over it in a few days. This is some of what I've done. Project is incomplete until the 80 amp relay I ordered arrives. Right now I am just disconnecting the battery, or else the fan would stay running.

I'm not sure that this will be the final home for the breaker, but it works for now.

I ran the power over to the passenger side, under the MAF sensor.

I used the bracket and former home of the A/C relay to mount the Volvo relay. The wire loom you see coming in from behind the alternator goes up to the BMW switch.

And here's the switch wired up. I actually wound up using spade connectors instead of the pieces listed in the thread I posted. Those were entirely too small to fit the pins.

Looking at the pics in the previous post makes me realize just how dirty this thing got over the winter. It needs a major douching.
