replacing the brake or the cable?

the brake is easy, you just have to replace your rear brakes.

The cable isn't much harder. Get a pair of dykes and pull back on the cable at the wheel and jimmy it off the brake arm where it goes into the backing plate. Then undo the bolt that should be right around the end of the cab (might be a bit rusty so spray it down good). After that you will just have a few frame eyelets to get it out of. You can either take some pliers and squeeze down on the tabs and back it through the eyelets or you can cut it since the cable it junk. Your choice on that one.

Then put the new one in similarly to how you got the old one out (just backwards) and tighten up that nut for the adjustment.
