I have a 1997 ford ranger 4.0. The truck got hot on the way home one night and was out of water. It had been using some water. So I did a pressure test and would hold pressure at all. I pulled the motor thinking it had to be a cracked head took heads in had the pressure checked and no cracks but said head was worped and could see water seeping around head gasket. I had the heads plained and now I got motor back together and put in truck bit now it sounds like it’s misssing and blowing smoke out the tail pipe I now it’s not oil and it don’t smell like antifreeze it smells like Un burned fuel. It don’t want to start and the temp gauge don’t work now I put a new sender in it and nothing. I grounded gauge out and it goes full hot. Any ideas I am discussed at this point. There are little orange cones on the injector’s I noticed one was missing does that have anything to do with this. Thanks in advance

I sure would like to know what little orange cones on the injector that you refer to. Check your oil level? Water Level?

The fluids all look good the orange cone on the end of the injector that going into the cylinder kind of holds the o ring in place. It’s definitely running really rich

If those are the hats for the injectors they need to be on the end where the fuel is sprayed out to the combustion chamber. Important!! I do not know what these "little orange cones" are though.

And those hats your talking about are on the end that’s is in the head

Might wont to find out if they are still in there.
