I had a bad head gasket on my 91 ranger 2.9l and tuned out to be a cracked head so I put a used head from the junkyard and put it all back together and now it won't start I have gas and spark idk what is wong I tried to spray some starter fluied but did nothing. Would the distriter timeing cus this or is it a weak coil. It rand great with the bad head so idk. Any advice thanks

Assuming you have spark, if starting fluid didn't get it started then spark timing is off.

Distributor(and cam) turns at 1/2 the speed of the crank, so there are 2 TDCs for each one revolution of the distributor.
TDC compression stroke << the one you want when distributor rotor is on #1
TDC exhaust stroke

Put crank on TDC
Distributor rotor should be on #1 or #5
Pull up distributor rotate rotor 180deg(1/2 turn) and reinstall.
So if it was on #1 then put rotor on #5 or visa versa

If you didn't pull the distributor, that should be okay. Did you knock the smaller ground wire loose near the battery. It has a push/pull connector about 1 foot away from the battery and heads for the airbox to enter a wiring harness.

thanks

Thanks for ur advice it was the timing was off 180° so I turnd the doctored and it started up so thanks you so much this truck was driving me cazy thanks
