2002 ford ranger 4.0 auto switch 4x4.
Problem- I just purchased this ranger last week knowing it had problems. The 4x4 lights did not light up when turned on so I replaced the 4x4CM with one from the junk yard(so no guarantee it works properly)
Now, when I start the truck the 4x4 lights turn on, I flip switch and nothing. The switch light does not light, the switch has been replaced and wires are spiced (could be wired wrong, don't know what color wire goes where). I was thinking next step would be the motor on the transfer case. pulling it and testing its functions with a jump.

Does anyone know what color wire goes into which spot on the 4x4 switch? There are 4 wire coming out the back of switch.
Will the light only come on if the motor engages or is the switch bad?

Is this the order wires will appear on switch also?
Say from left to right starting on the 2wd side?

For some reason I have different color wire coming out the plug on the switch about 6'' that are then fed into the actual wires.

so i pulled the motor cleaned it and all still nothing.

Traced the wires and one had a cut and the copper was so ate up. cut out and splice works again....
