Regular cab vs. Supercab

I've had both...won't go back to regular cab just for the convenience, but the turning radius and parking with the longer wheel base are a PITA...I really have to choose my parking spots carefully, and dred going to places where there is limited parking...

If you do plenty of in-town driving and parking et al, I'd say go with the regular cab...otherwise...

Bigger is better~

I currently own one of each, both with stepside beds

The orange one is my V-8 swapped truck *Standard cab* and it handles VASTLY superior thanks to the lowering kit and its weight. It also parks like a car *I can pull in nose first at the train station* There is no more 'sway' or instability on the highway in the orange truck than the Supercab green one that I've ever noticed... if not the green one is MORE unstable because its taller and has more surface area for the wind to hit.

The green supercab is also a bit of a bitch to park, being a 4X4 the turning radius isn't as tight, and the extra length kills it especially in tight quarters like the train station parking lots...

I LOVE having the supercab's extra space, and its been nothing short of perfect for having stuff in it on a daily basis. The biggest issue with the standard cab is carrying 'stuff'. Sure, you can drive yourself and a passenger, but what about groceries AND a passenger? Sure you can buy a toolbox to put stuff in, but during winter you have snow and ice on/in/around it which becomes a big hassle Vs. just throwing stuff in the back of the super cab.

I plan on selling BOTH my trucks and putting my V-8 into a lowered 2wd Supercab/fleet side bed time/money permitting.

If you are just going to drive it on the road mostly, DD, Mall Crawl, etc, I'd go extended cab. IMO Reg cabs are 5 times as sexy, They actually look proportionate and original like trucks always used to be, and they especially look sexy in the flavor of F-350 duallys...Anyways...But if you ever plan on wheeling it, the turning radius and wheelbase will whoop the shit out of an Ext. cab's stock offerings in most environments.

Wow. Lots of good points made guys. You all made my decision even harder.

ozziemo made a point that I really agree with, and that is the fact that my truck will be a daily driver and I will be building a mall crawler (don't hate :thefinger:), so I guess for the time being, I will lean towards a supercab, but will consider any regular cab options that come in front of me.

I've got a reg cab and have no problems with room at all ( and I am also 6'3"). I've ridden in the back of the supercabs, its no fun at all. To me, their only purpose is inside storage. If I ever have to take more than three people in my reg cab, they just pile in the back. Mind you this is Saskatchewan... at the last instance there were three in the cab, four in the bed, and we were driving around University on our way to a class... the cops just followed till I parked and everyone hopped out, then turned around :yahoo:

For storage, I have a large homemade toolbox in the bed that more than handles everything I ever bring with me so storage is not an issue for me either. I really don't think that you can go wrong with either. What I like so much about mine is I have the 7' bed, so I can get a lot more stuff in it, even with my large toolbox.
