Regular cab vs. Supercab

I love the look of my regular cab. And for me it just feels right, because I ride a motorcycle a lot and there's obviously no extra space on it. However, I really want a toolbox because with having to carry books, work clothes, guitars, etc, I quickly run out of space. There's only so much I can cram behind my seats. Sometimes I think about if I would like to have a supercab, but I think all I'd do with the extra space is throw extra crap in it.

There's another good point too. My supercab currently has a lot of crap in the back of it, a regular cab may help me keep a cleaner vehicle.

Yeah, plus some of the supercabs have the cargo covers. Here's mine, I took it out of a 98 at the Tear-a-Part here.

I like the look of regular cabs.. especially with short beds or stepsides. my 84 ranger had the long bed but it is fun to drive and i feel at home in a more closed in cab. But I have a 99 ext cab 4 door and let me tell you it makes all the difference in the world! I love the extra cab and the half doors make it so easy to put heavy things and bags in the back and if I ever carry a passenger its easier for them to hop on back. also being in ak its nice to be able to store stuff in the cab where it will get warmed up.

extra cab...more room for the engine.

I like my reg cab. Altho a ext cab would be nice for me only so i could throw some subs in it lol (Not exactly the most practical reason). But overall the reg cab looks nicer to me.

Looks like you need to close your eyes and flip a coin. :icon_twisted:

I don't think I could live without my xtracab. It does at sometimes collect extra crap that a reg cab wouldn't but it makes my truck double as a car for short distance trips when I need to haul kids around (even if they're sitting sideways). To be totally honest, I'd like to have a 4-door short bed, but if you're in the US, you don't get those unless you buy a Frontier (which I've thought about) or something.

Explorer Sport Trac....

I'm 6' 0" and the regular cab is slightly cramped for me. If the seat went back just one more click I would be comfortable, but it doesn't. The extra space in the ext cab is very useful. I think I use it more than I use the bed.

Morning :)

I also have had both and would never go back to a Regular cab. The 4 1/2 doors are a great improvement as well. I like the security as well because I usually carry my lap-top, briefcase & camera and I feel it helps deter sticky fingers :) :) :)

Ba-da-bing. :icon_cheers:
A Sport Trac with the optional bed extender (which most of them have) is about the same as a short-bed Ranger.
I had two Supercab 4 door Rangers, loved 'em, but after a while my kids got too big to fit in the back so I got a Sport Trac. Until I got remarried a truck was my only vehicle. The Swiss Army knife of trucks. :icon_thumby:

Personally, I don't see the point in having a regular cab unless it's a work/delivery truck that has a specific purpose. I have a 4D Supercab, and I use the back for dry storage of my tech bag, gear bag, basic kits (first aid, roadside dummy) and jackets when I need them. The seats in the back are great for kids, but no one over 12.
While I love my Ranger, it's time for me tp upgrade to something bigger :(
I'm hoping I can hit the lottery, keep the Ranger, and buy an SUV too :)

I'm another one who has had both. Reg cab great around town and such but I started to take some long trips, ext cab sure handy for that. The 4x4 ext cab gets all the Winter gear thrown in back, snow suit, big boots, emergency gear, one gym bag full of tie downs and another one full of bungy cords. I know a lot of you don't have to deal with the Winter but sure is nice to have that room for the storage. Really comes down to needs and wants.
