Redoing front end

Since my ball Joints are a mess me, my uncle and my grandfather will be redoing my whole front end. Truck specs are under my picture and any input from pros(allanD comes to mind ) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

if youre changing tire rod ends be sure to mark them so you can have an idea of where the old ones were so that the truck is somewhat driveable to the alignment shop...

a big ol hammer for pounding out the lower ball joints. rent one of those ball joint press tools from auto zone or whatever is near you, so that you can reinstall the new lower ball joints.

other than that, not too bad actually. i replaced all 4 ball joints and installed lift spindles on my edge in one day by myself. so this should be a pretty quick job.

ohhh and the night before, spray a bunch of penetrating oil on all the bolts just in case theyre rusted!!

only special tool, I can think of that you will need if doing the BJ's is a Ball joint press. Can rent them at auto zone, looks like a giant c clamp.

if your going to replace all your ball joints,tie rod ends, drag link etc, you could use a pickle fork if you happen to have one.AS you wont care about the rod end boots getting torn up.

map gas torch to burn the bushing out of the I beam end's,punch/chisel or muffler gun to pop the bushing cup out.

you can use the ball joint press, to press the bushings in the beam ends also.


other than that, alighment afterwards.

since his is a 99, hes dealing with upper control arms and no beams
