Does anyone know where you can take used fluid? Most auto parts stores will not take it.

Any place that takes used engine oil. It all goes in the same pot.

AutoZone and Advance both do not take Tranny fluid or gear oil. They only accecpt Engine oil.

I mix it in with my used engine oil and bring it to the town transfer station.

Thats the way to do it. worst Case scenario double 6 mil bag it and toss it in the trash.

I take my fluids to the dump on hazardous waste day

we used to take all sorts of stuff at the jiffy lube i worked at. all fluids went into the drain pans at each bay. not a lot of people ever brought us stuff though, i still take mine up there.

Advance will take ATF. Apparently the workers there arnt aware of it. Try another store in your area.

I will give anothe Advance a call. If that fails I will call the city about HAZMAT disposal. Thanks for the help.

I worked at Advance, an they will take any kind of oil. Normally you can even take oil with some antifreeze at the bottom and they wont give you crap. The only thing we wouldn't take was fuel.

Antifreeze is a no go....Basically fuel, antifreeze, propellants (brake clean etc) are not suppose to be accepted. Any type of oil, atf, gear oil can be mixed and recycled properly. Of course this is based upon corporate policy....whether or not the worker follows, or even is aware of them is another story all together.

if its clean (no water, anti-freeze...... ect.....) find somebody with an old school smoker ...... I use either a quart of ATF or non-detergent 30wt oil every tank...... keeps the injector pump lubed......

what would you say about thiss in a gasser

Dont do it. I wouldn't do that with a modern Diesel either, only an old school IDI smoker.

ATF can be run in any diesel engine that does not use a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), incuding powerstrokes, IDI's (pre 95 7.3L), tractors and lawn equipment with diesel engines. As long as it is filtered, it is just like bio diesel, and it lubricates the injector pump and injectors. I run it in mine all the time, no problem running that in my 92 dually or my dad's 97 dually
