So, I've replaced everything else in my power steering, and it still doesn't work, lol! I replaced the high pressure line and had good power steering for 1 day, then all of the sudden, there was a loud pop, and instantly no more power steering. It wasn't whining or anything, just good one minute, loud pop, gone the next. Where I park, there was a puddle directly underneath the pump, so I figured it was the pump and replaced it. After finishing that up and filling it with fluid, I found another puddle in the same spot, but the pump and all the lines are dry. It seems like the frame right under the pump/pulley is soaking wet with fluid, but everything I can see is bone dry.
I don't know a whole lot about this stuff, I'm a motorcycle tech, never really work on cars, but I'm trying to save some money doing it myself. Best I can figure is that it's the gear box. I can't afford a new gear box, so I got a complete seal kit to rebuild it, and it just came today, only problem is that it doesn't have instructions. I read the write up on 4x4.forensick.net about the '88 bronco gear rebuild, but I was just wondering if anyone had a scan or something of a set of instructions that would come with a seal kit? I got a chilton's manual, but it's pretty much useless.
