Rebuilding my 2.9: a love story 😒

So just pulled the motor again to replace the rear freeze plugs. I’m struggling with it a bit. In the photos you will see why. My question is since these are deep plugs should I worry that it’s not completely flush? It’s as close as I can get it.

I don't have an answer for you - not that confident in my skills, but I can see why you would question it. Looks like the crud (or the casting) is preventing the plug from seating correctly.
I would prolly try and re-fit it by cleaning the crud/casting to allow the plug to seat.

That's just my thinking cuz if I had gone as far as you have, I would just not be happy. Not saying I'm a perfectionist - far from it - but -- just from looking at your progress so far - I'm thinking you're not gonna let this go till it's purrrrfect.. (y)

well I try not to over do it but you’re not wrong. In the end I decided to grind the crude out. I just couldn’t let it sit there like that. So I grabbed the dremel taped off the machined surface and went to town. Now I’m scared I didn’t clean all the metal shavings out. Don’t get me wrong I vacuumed it and wiped out out but you can never be too careful. Might run a flush once I get it back together
