rear suspension

I have a 2000 ford ranger XLT with the 4.0 4 speed auto. In the process of installing 1-2" inch rear shackles having a problem removing shackle bolt anyone have any ideas how to get it out thanks

The bolt is under the stress of the weight of the veichle, jack it up and put jack stands on the frame so the wheels are off the ground. Or just simply use an engine hoist haha I just did mine a day ago.

Put jack stands under the chassis. Then use a floor jack to adjust the rear axle to take the stress off the bolt.

With the suspension at full droop you've got a few hundred pounds on the bolt. And a hell of a shock when you punch it out.

With the truck sitting on it's own weight you've got a bit more then a few hundred pounds of weight on the bolt and an even bigger shock when you punch it out.

when i did lift shackles on my 95, (same stuff), i had to use a air hammer at my college shop, but then when i did them on my buddies 2000 we got it in my garage by using alot of liquid wrench(lube), long breakers, a punch, bunch of ciggarettes, couple busted knuckes and one hell of alot of curse words... haha good luck man just gotta get in there and make it happen..
