Hey all,

Wondering roughly how much it would cost at a fair mechanic to replace both rear drum brakes?

Any estimates? Thanks.

I know that we charge out 1.0hours if not changing wheel cylinders. This includes new shoes and hardware kit. Replacing drums is included, machining the drums would be another .5 per drum. If you are getting the wheel cylinders replaced we charge 1.5 hours.

Motorcraft brake shoes (lifetime warranty) $104.95 CAD
Hardware kit is about $30.00 bucks CAD
Motorcraft wheel cylinders $20.00 each CAD
Motorcraft drums about $50-60 each CAD

Labour 1.5 hours @ $80.00/hour = $120.00

Parts = $294.95

Total = $414.95 plus taxes

This is a Ford shop by the way...

It can be done cheaper using non-ford parts.

or you could do it yourself for right around 75 if you don't need new drums.
