Rear brake drum backing plate bent, what would cause that and what would you do?

I took the B2 out and the brakes ended up going out on us. Towed it home and took the wheel off and the backing plate is bent out an inch and half. I am pretty sure it wasn't like that before the trip...What would cause this?

Also I'm wondering what my best option would be.....Should I put on disc brakes, bend it back or replace it?

The brakes fell apart and something forcefully damaged it. Take the drum off and look at it.
My order of preference:
1. Disc swap
2. Replace the backing plate
3. Bend it back

Drum is okay, brakes seem a little low but nothing that I can see that would forcefully damage it.

Was looking at the disc swap and seems straight forward. Whats the best place to get em?

Junk yard.
Complete axle swap may be almost as easy as getting that bent back perfectly straight. Now you have more choices.

Oh thanks for adding another option for me lol. Might be a little cheaper possibly. What's the best axle swap?
